Godakawela Police said that a person who acted as a woman and defrauded Rs.2.5 million from a 61-year-old resident of Ratnapura while promising to marry him has been arrested.
The suspect is a resident of Rakwana. According to confession by the suspect, he had come to know the 61-year-old man when he came to work in a farm close to his house in 2018. After building a friendship with the suspect, the 61 year old person had told the suspect to find him a woman to get married. Later, the suspect had said he kept calling the 61-year-old man while posing as a woman giving various reasons and had embezzled the money from him on several occasions.
