#SupportYourLokal | Christmas Gift Ideas 2

As promised, here is the second part of my #SupportYourLokal | Christmas Gift Ideas. just a quick recap, part 1 consists of pantry essentials - Pik-a-Pikel and Jacob's Gourmet Foods as well as something sweet - Chookies and That Awkward Baker.

This time I am sharing with you classic Pinoy delicacies that are essential during Filipino holiday feasts - Kakanin or rice cakes eaten as snack or breakfast. Since these are sticky and sweet, kakanin symbolises the close relationship of Filipino families and friends.

There are three places I highly recommend.

Ojet's Lecheng Maja, Lecheng Inutak and Lecheng Puto Bumbong

When it comes to classic Pinoy kakanin with a twist, nothing beats Direk Ojet's creations. He has three creations at the moment. The first two are the Lecheng Maja and the Lecheng Inutak which comes with layers and layers of goodness.

The Lecheng Maja has THREE delicious layers - cream cheese, maja blanca and leche flan while the Lecheng Inutak has an oven-fresh bibingka layer followed by ube and leche flan. Both are available in a box of 4 or a box of 8.

The newest addition is the Lecheng Puto Bumbong. This has three variants - Original Buttered Puto Bumbong, Lecheng Buttered Puto Bumbong Puti and Lecheng Buttered Puto Bumbong Ube. All are delicious but you can make them even more so by topping them with Mixed Roasted Sesame, Muscovado Sugar and Grated Fresh Coconut with Salted Caramel Creamcheese Dip!

Sir Rolly's Cassava Flan

Okay, Sir Rolly offers puto pao, puto flan, pichi-pichi, kutsinta and puto cheese but what caught my attention is their Cassava Flan. At first glance, you'll think it's Leche flan. But once you look closely and slowly dig in, you'll feel the sticky but smooth texture of cassava. Once you take a bite, you'll taste a medley of flavours that's not too sweet nor overwhelming.

Goryo's Coffee Ala Eh!

Located in Mandaluyong City, Goryo's Coffee ALA EH offers homemade Tamales or Suman sa Lihiya as they call it in Batangas and Quezon. Their choices of toppings include santan (Minatamis na bao), latik and budbod (toasted coconut) or fresh niyog with budbod and sugar with sesame seeds.

Their Suman sa Lihiya is really good and made of quality ingredients. It's also worth mentioning that the best partner is Goryo's Coffee Ala Eh Kapeng Barako. I think these two make a great Christmas gift to family and friends.
