ITAK senior Leader Mavai Senathirajah yesterday said that his party not taken a decision to support Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa at the upcoming Presidential Election. He said it was a decision taken by MP M. A. Sumanthiran on his own.
He said an announcement made yesterday that the ITAK will support Premadasa was not an official announcement by the party. He said that this is a personal decision of some members.
He said party Leader MPs Shivagnanam Sritharan and important members of the party like MP Charles Nirmalanathan had not participated in an ITAK meeting where the decision had supposed to have been taken.
He also said senior ITAK members like S. Yogeshwaran and G. Srinesan had also not participated in the meeting.
