This year’s Los Angeles County Airshow was fortunate to have this rare Spitfire in attendance courtesy of the Commemorative Air Force (Camarillo, CA), seen here bathed in the morning light.  With only 957 of this version, it was the first Spitfire to go in production with the Rolls Royce Griffon 65 V-12 engine. This aircraft entered service with the Royal Air Force in 1944 and was later transferred to the Indian Air Force, returning to England in 1983 for restoration.
