I’ve posted about my favorite garden in the city, Jardim das Virtudes, but I don’t think I’ve ever posted about the sunset hangout that is Passeio das Virtudes, which is just above. It’s a west-facing viewpoint overlooking the Douro River and the rooftops of Miragaia, ideal for watching the sun go down with friends. Every time I go by this part of town near the end of the day, no matter the season, it’s buzzing with people who gravitate there in groups, drinks in hand. I don’t know how long it’s been a sunset hangout spot, but if you’re looking for a park-like atmosphere with a social scene that’s not touristy (yet), here’s a map.
