Sunny Saturdays for a designer are either spent in the studio or out in search of inspiration at exhibitions, parks and on the streets.
My first lazy day in the sun since last year was spent thinking and observing at the old Colonial exhibition space, now abandoned for half a century on the outskirts of Paris.
Now an abandoned mangle of architecture inspired by various french colonies around the world and lots of overgrown, wildlife-rich gardens, this made for a peaceful place to walk around and let the imagination flow freely. With few visitors and surrounded by trees, it was easy to forget about the hectic Parisian Saturday and fall asleep (as i did!) under the sun whilst listening to the birds and insects in the summer breeze.
My only regret was not taking my sketchbook or journal, so I had to make do with a camera and memories to take information home and find inspiration from. I was thinking that it could well be a very interesting place for a photoshoot when my 2013 collection is ready.
