Story: Sunlight starts when former addict Leon (Ward) looks to go about his day as a carer for his sponsor Iver (Carney). However, he is left in shock when Iver has Maria (Beattie) helping him with an exit to the world. Leon isn’t prepared to let the most important person in his life go out that way and decides to take the pair out for a typical day.

The three set out on an adventure to hit the stables, the pub before returning home. Along the way, they must face some harsh truths and understand the bigger decision that Iver wants to make.

Verdict on Sunlight

Sunlight is a drama following a former addict coming to terms with the idea that his sponsor has decided to end his life due to a terminal illness. It sees the former addict trying his best to give him a good final day in hopes of changing his mind.

This is a powerful drama with an attempt to bring a lightened toned to show the bond between the friends. It gets to tackle the complicated subject matter of people accepting death and assisted suicide. By bringing this subject to the table, we get to see how loved ones would react differently to the decision. Along with how easily an addict can be turned back to their dark ways if they face losing the most important stable part of their life. the performances are fantastic with Barry Ward and Liam Carney shining throughout the movie.
