Sundaze 62 + My October To-Do List

By Winyeemichelle
Oh October, you’re really something.
I woke up this morning to raindrops tip-tapping, pitter-pattering on my windowpanes, threatening to disturb my plans for a Pokemon adventure (Suicune is out!), a dog walk and an obligatory Sunday snack run, the only sort of run I embark on these days. And I remembered it was the very first day of another new month, another month of optimistic budgetary goals and great intentions that admittedly tend to end in lots-of-Netflix-in-bed-and-coffee-by-the-bucketload. Ahem.
My September to-do list was simple and straightforward, a little bit of a ‘cheat’ list, but life itself already throws so many unspoken goals at you that it felt nice to relax a little. I managed to tick off everything from my list(!!) and for that, I’m feeling quite optimistic for the month ahead. I even got to hang out with my boyfriend's kitten without her kitten claws taking chunks of flesh out of my arm! There’s a real chill in the air that tends to spark creativity but really kick me in the teeth when it comes to productivity: I just want to nest and nap the chill away dammit! And that’s precisely what I plan to do right after I finish this post and send some work across to a client.

A London day with the girls

On Saturday, I headed down to London to hang out with my girls, Winnie, Zoe and Mandy. These girls are practically my sisters at this point and we had the best time catching-up, gossiping and hearing all about Mandy’s adorable little girl. Can you believe I hadn’t seen Mandy since I was still living in Hong Kong?! Madness. We popped over to the new Japan Centre and for a whip around the shops - we hit up Dover Street Market pretty hard - and dined at Machiya, the new restaurant from the people behind Kanada-ya. I can confirm it was pretty great. I picked up a pair of Commes des Garcons Play Converse for my sister and stocked up on MUJI stationery for myself and then a whole host of snack goodness from the Japan Centre, before heading home to plop in front of the TV and languish in my tiredness.

An Essie Fox delivery

A few weeks ago, I shared how much I adored Essie Fox’s novel, Elijah’s Mermaid, and to my surprise, she Tweeted me about it! I of course gushed about how much I’d fallen in love with her literary ways and she offered to send me a copy of her newest title, The Last Days of Leda Grey. It even has a little handwritten note inside! I’m pretty excited to dive headfirst into reading it - watch this space.

My October spending ban

In recent years, our household (and surrounding gifters!) implements a personal spending ban in the latter part of the year. From October onwards, we can’t buy ourselves anything that could possibly be gifted for Christmas, in an effort to prevent duplicate gifts and to ensure maximum Christmas present happiness. As ridiculous and somewhat painful as this might sound, I’d totally recommend trying it yourself, between your family or between you and your partner! Right before mine kicked in though, you can bet your bottom dollar that I treated myself to these over-the-knee boots and these backless loafers.

The Daisybutter Coffee Club

The newest edition of my Daisybutter Coffee Club fortnightly newsletter was sent out on Wednesday (you can sign up for it here!) and I’m so pleased with how it went down! I was always sceptical of newsletters but I’m really into them at the moment… and it seems you guys are too. Within each one, I tend to write a little think-piece or just a little heart-to-heart letter to you, share some archived posts of mine, share shopping news and offers and offer free downloadables. Thank you SO much if you were one of the loveliest ladies that emailed, DM’d or Tweeted your support this week!
