Sundaze 55

Good morning Daisybutter loves! I write this from the past because we’ve just been planning a little family day out together and as you read this, I’ll be sat in the car zooming into London. I couldn’t pass up on a chance to drop in and say a quick ‘hello!’ though; I often find these weekly Sundaze updates a great way to recalibrate on my week in hand and set the ball rolling for a fresh one ahead. It grounds my week, if you like, and gosh knows that’s what every freelancer is somewhat hunting for. This week was spent primarily in the wonderful city of Copenhagen on our annual sisters’ trip, a.k.a. eating and exploring our way through a new destination. We had a pretty sweet time, but more on that later ;) I also spent Monday soaking up the British heatwave with my boyfriend (forced him to buy me ice cream and eat our dinner on the patio) and spent more time than usual reading paper maps.

Fresh off a flight

Louise and I arrived home from our 5-day stint in Copenhagen yesterday afternoon and I’ve pretty much been half feeling frazzled and half catching up on work (such is life when you run a mini empire, heh!) since then. Our trip was so much fun although not what I expected and I’m super excited to edit my photos and share a handful of posts with you! My usual city guide will actually take a budget twist this time, as traveling with a fresh post-grad means counting pennies. We managed to spend £250 each and have a pretty great time! On my blogging list is a Daisybutter City Guide, our travel photo diary and an outfit post, but let me know if there is anything specific you’d like me to share.

Danish design dreaming

As I sit in my heavily cluttered, not-at-all Marie Kondo but filled-with-treasure bedroom, I can’t help but let my mind drift hazily over to realms of simplistic Danish design. Who could blame me?! A jaunt in Illum, HAY House and Montana Mobile have left me lusting after a room stripped completely down to the bare minimum, ready to embrace that hygge dream. For real though, I’m so tempted to get rid of, like, 80% of my belongings.

Midsummers’

I can hardly believe that we’re already halfway through the summer! Although the recent heatwave reminds me often of how much I usually dislike this warmer season… Midsummer is usually one of my favorite times of year and I always used to commemorate it with a little stroll by the lake with my best friend and conversation upon conversation about everything and yet nothing at all. This year, I spent it at Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen, begging my younger sister to let me go on another ride and running away from peacocks and waiting for the sun to go down at 11.12pm!! New traditions are great also.

6-month review

Now that we’re firmly six-months deep into the year, I’ve been thinking a little about what I have and haven’t achieved in 2017. I find this sort of thinking both useful and disheartening: sometimes it’s nice to celebrate the successes but it can also be a little discouraging to see that you’ve worked and worked to see almost no results at all. I’m in two minds, following my mini six-month review: I mean, everything is a work in progress, isn’t it? I’m content with the direction that my businesses are progressing and I feel happier than ever with my attempts in getting fit. Harvey and I are working oh so hard to make our moving dreams a reality and I feel pretty damn happy. Now? It’s probably time that I made my surroundings reflect that. My bedroom is an absolute disgrace and I could totally do with whipping out my Marie Kondo tidying book again. Watch. This. Space.
