Sundaze 37

By Winyeemichelle
Firstly, let’s skip hastily past the fact that we should be on installment number 53 of the Sundaze series, shall we? Oops. I can’t work out how I managed to miss so many weeks of this series, but I hereby promise to be much, much better at regular weekend scheduling. Secondly, how are we all?! Good, I hope. We survived the tumultuous First Week Back and things in 2017 are pretty peachy, eh? I've had the most deliciously relaxed weekend: an anime afternoon with my boyfriend and Milo yesterday and a dim sum kinda situation today. SO GOOD.
一. This week has been lovely and slow and focused and full of re-beginnings. I started it off at my boyfriend’s place where we snacked on food, were treated to a New Year’s roast (I must say it was a total novelty as we never ever have roasts at home, being a Chinese family and all!), watched anime and gamed, lazily. And not once did I feel guilty about utilising a day off as just that: a day off. We also took a slow amble through to the Old Town part of the town we live in where I hatched a Togepi in Pokemon GO and feasted on Veggie Patty Subways, a.k.a. the best sandwich on the menu. Then I took it upon myself to clear out three bin liners of clothes for the charity shops before settling down with a film. Slow days like these - and like yesterday! - are my favorite.
二. I’m back at work now and feeling good if not a little bit at a loose ends phase. My accounts are done and my portfolio is updated - woo! This year I’d really like to add another two clients to my roster, so if anybody out there - UK or international - is looking, or whose workplace is looking, to hire a freelance copywriter and/or social media girl, get in touch or browse my portfolio here! I’d love to conjure up some beautiful words for you.
三. Booked in to a four-class package of Barre Concept classes on the 1st! I didn’t really want to get all ‘New Year, New Me’ but I found a studio in my hometown at LAST and they had an offer where your first class is £1. ONE ENGLISH POUND. So yeah, took them right up on that offer. Barre Concept is pretty much barrecore without the price tag, it’s a mixture of ballet, yoga, Pilates and body conditioning, all of which I’ve previously done, but I’m still so nervous to start on the 17th. Will report back.
四. Thank you all so much for your kind words about Daisybutter’s 2017 facelift! As a general rule of thumb, I try to invest in a new layout once a year to keep things fresh around here and this might be my favorite one yet. The post layout is a smidgen different from the typical ones but I think it’ll serve to inspire me to shoot better photographs. And so I will be! I finally upgraded my DSLR which should arrive next week. It'll replace my broken one and should make life a whole lot easier - i.e. no more forcing Cherie to shoot whilst holding a broken battery flap in ;)
五. Louise - my sister! - and I ventured into London earlier this week for a sister date. I’m so thankful that I’m close to my siblings; they truly are my best friends. We like to put aside entire days to spend together and tick things off our to-do lists and this time we shot some blog photos, visited the Nordic Bakery for coffee and delicious cinnamon buns, strolled around the streets and finished off with Korean food for dinner. We had the best time and a lengthy snooze on the train home, too!
六. Ao No Exorcist is back! Harvey and I were pleasantly surprised when we had a browse for something to watch - we've been watching Mirai Nikki lately as well as Pokemon Sun and Moon. The first episode is quite fluffy-filler but I'm imagining this season to be epic. You absolutely must watch the first series!

Links I’ve Loved

  • My girl Gem shared an incredible recipe for a Halloumi Rainbow Salad over on The Mother Cooker and I immediately rushed out the next day to pick up the ingredients to make one. It’s so damn good! Whilst we’re here, TMC is seriously one of my favorite food/recipe blogs, it’s user-friendly (shopping lists that you can check off as you read!) and Gem really puts a wonderfully rustic and home-cooking feel to every dish.
  • January is a great time to tackle your goals head-on and if upping your blog game is one of those, this post from Gillian at elevatormusik is one to read. She discusses great ways to refresh your blog - good for all us blogging dinos!
  • Hampstead Heath is absolutely beautiful - a total must-visit if you’re ever in London! - and these photos on Charli’s blog show just why.
  • My girl Bee is bloody talented. This poetry piece on her blog is just beautiful.
