A shorter working week, free drinks and finally some wintery weather!
Hello Freckles has been pretty beauty focused this week. I've shared the lowdown on LUSH's Valentine's Day range and my thoughts on Look Fantastic's Beauty Box. Next week may follow a similar beauty theme, though I'm sure if we get somewhere booked in for Restaurant Week, there may be a few food snaps.
This week I went along to The Botanist (third visit now) for their VIP Opening Party. It was really nice to be out having a few drinks with Andy and see a few familiar faces, though I didn't spot too many there which was a shame. We don't usually go out much; favouring a trip to the cinema or a meal over drinks and a night on the town. I like the atmosphere in The Botanist and the live music, plus their cocktail menu is really good. I shared my first impressions in this post a couple weeks ago.
Cinema trips this week haven't been too lighthearted; Foxcatcher and American Sniper! Steve Carrell showed he can do something other than comedic roles like Michael Scott by portraying John du Pont in Foxcatcher. It was really good, but had an uncomfortable air about it. If you've seen it, let me know your thoughts and if you agree with what I mean. Last night we went to see American Sniper, another film based on a true story and if I'm giving any recommendations, it's for this. Clint Eastwood hasn't tried to glorify Chris Kyle and Bradley Cooper seriously deserves his Oscar nomination for the performance. It was intense and the entire screen was silent during the ending credits, which was a chilling experience in itself. Taya Kyle is an incredibly strong woman and I have a whole new level of respect for those who have partners/loved ones in the forces.
Initial plans for this weekend kinda fell through due to the weather, but I did get out this afternoon to go look at some cars. I hadn't driven since passing my test back in November, but this afternoon I (reasonably) successfully drove in the snow. I won't be rushing into anything, but I've passed the first hurdle of actually going to a garage, speaking to the salesman and test driving something. Same again next weekend (providing I've not scared both parents with my driving) hopefully!
