Neon’s favorite way to spend a wintery Sunday is to lie in, read the papers and then spend four hours over Sunday lunch eating and drinking with friends. Once full of food and wine travel home drunk at dusk and climb into bed waking up with 10 hours sleep under your belt ready for a week ahead.
Give this a try at Trullo (just the eating bit).
This Highbury restaurant opened in June 2010 and has since won many fans; bloggers and broadsheets alike. Trullo serve a simple, seasonally focussed, Italian menu that changes daily and regularly makes use of their charcoal grill.
The Sunday lunch menu is set without choices but by using seasonal ingredients that are at their best the dishes are always brilliant and no choice eliminates stressful Sunday deliberations. Dishes last Sunday included chargrilled lamb rump with slow-cooked bobby beans, anchovy, garlic and salsa rossa and grilled hispi cabbage* with gorgonzola fonduta.
The wine list is 100% Italian and divided into regions with detailed tasting notes and a helpful weight indicator. Try the ‘Aulente’ Rosso 2010, San Patrignano from Emilia Romagna in north-east Italy ‘a perfect wine to to lead us into autumn’ say Trullo.
