Sun Butter Banana Shake

By Mollyalice @mollyalicehoy

Okay, go ahead. Give me the award for worst blogger of the century. I accept it with no illusions.

At this point, I feel no need to defend myself. Sometimes life just gets crazy. Job opportunities come and go. Hopes spring up and are dashed. Physical, mental, and emotional health fluctuate. Crises of identity are had. New life paths are charted and blazed. And sometimes, well… sometimes it all manifests in the form of a month-long recipe hiatus.

Fortunately, I’ve got myself convinced that this is a perfectly valid response.

Now, as we begin this journey back to blog equilibrium, let’s take a moment to enjoy one of my favorite cop-out recipes.

You know cop-out recipes. They’re those meals you throw together on days you’re exhausted out of your senses, too stressed to sit still, or somewhere in between. They’ve also been my primary source of sustenance over the past few weeks.

Toss some pasta in sauce, DONE. Slap some avocado on a tortilla, DONE. Eat some cereal while standing in the kitchen, DONE.

Or my personal favorite, throw some frozen crap in the blender, DONE.

This shake in particular is good for jarring me out of whatever funk I’ve managed to get myself into on a given day. Nothing says, “everything is going to be all right,” like a giant-ass spoonful of sun butter. Except maybe a cuddle from Mel.

Thanks to everyone who’s been so patient with me during this bizarro time in my life. With any luck, I’ll get back in the swing of things soon, with new recipes (and potentially big news!) to share.

ingredients

1 c nondairy milk
2 bananas, frozen
2 heaping tbsp sunflower seed butter (or your favorite nut or seed butter)
1 tbsp agave
1 tbsp chia or ground flax seeds (optional)
4-5 ice cubes

directions

1. Seriously? Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. It’s not that hard.
