Summer Desserts @ The Botanist

Hello Freckles The Botanist Baked Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Dessert Summer FoodDessert may well be my favorite part of a meal. As much as I love something sweet, I'm equally fond of a savoury dessert - yes really - so when I popped along to The Botanist, Newcastle, to see what desserts were popping up on their new summer menu, I was very impressed!Hello Freckles The Botanist hanging Kebab Dessert Summer FoodHello Freckles The Botanist Baked Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Dessert Summer FoodHello Freckles The Botanist Summer Cocktail PeachHello Freckles The Botanist Elderflower Jelly Pavlova Dessert Summer FoodHello Freckles The Botanist Summer Cocktail Kiwi MartiniHello Freckles The Botanist Cheese Board Summer Food
For those with a sweet tooth the baked chocolate chip cookie dough will go down a tree. This warm cookie is drizzled in salted caramel sauce and served with toffee ice cream. It's pretty tasty - so much so you'll definitely not be sharing this.

The rocky road kebab is an interesting sweet take on the hanging kebabs from the main menu. With strawberry, marshmallows and hazelnut brownie pieces it looks just as good as it tastes. Those marshmallows were so gooey, I had to go back for more.

Elderflower jelly and red berry pavlova looks like your traditional trifle style dessert. Served in a tall glass, it's a mix of red and white. The elderflower jelly at the base of the dessert is refreshing, where the berries really pack in the flavor for the red jellied section and of course raspberry ripple ice cream wins with the childhood nostalgia vote. Did anyone else love that flavor as a child?

For those of you who enjoy something more savoury for dessert, or just a self-confessed cheese fiend, you'll love the cheese boards on offer. Featuring Appleby's red cheshire, stilton and shorrocks; pair any with the radish and fig chutney and you're in for a treat. The chutney has a sweetness to it, but doesn't overpower the cheese. Goes well with a glass of wine, or one of the new summer cocktails. Or if that's not your bag, they offer a beer and cheese board which features a flight of Pacific Pale Ale, Passionate Blonde and Guinness.

Are you a dessert fan? Which of these would you pick?
