Week 1 of summer camp has already come and gone. I can't believe it! Time is flying so fast and the worst part of camp is already over. Week 1 out of 6 is always the most painful. This week for our end-of-week-performance on Friday I performed the "Spinners" (Also known as "Harvest") variation from Coppelia. I wouldn't say it was the best performance I've given but considering we only had an hour and a half to rehearse the dance then I'd say everyone did very well. We've all been very busy rehearsing for our larger-scale summer show, the company members especially. I'm very excited because in a portion of our production I'll be doing a pas de tois with one other girl and a boy. It's very cute and extremely fun to dance.
Last night was our "Choreographer's Showcase" in which I did a trio with two of my best friends to a piano version of some Lady Gaga songs. It was a medley of Paparazzi, Boys Boys Boys and Love Game. The feedback we received could not have been more incredible. One audience member was kind enough to say that it was the best piece of student choreography she'd ever seen which was all we could have ever asked to hear and more. The three of us choreographers are all approaching our junior year so to be this young and having the opportunity to choreograph and dance a piece that was all our own is to say the least, a dream. (I have some pictures from the showcase that I'll attach to the article as soon as they're e-mailed to me)
I'll be bringing my camera to the school so hopefully I'll have some good pics for you guys :) Thanks for reading everyone!
