Leg spinner Dilum Sudeera had a match bag of 12 wickets as Tamil Union recorded a 44-run victory over Sebastianites in the final to emerge champions of the Major Club Emerging 3-day Tournament played at SSC grounds yesterday.

Sebastianites needed 211 runs to win but Dilum Sudeera the 21-year-old leggie who took 7 wickets in the first innings, did most of the damage to restrict Sebastianites to 166 runs to take the title.

Earlier, Tamil Union scored 254 (all out) in their first innings while Sebastianites were 167 (all out). However, ambidextrous spinner of Sebastianites Tharindu Ratnayake 4/56 and medium paceman Manelka de Silva 5/37 fought back strongly as Tamil Union were 123 (all out) in their second innings and set a target of 211 runs for Sebastianites.

Tamil Union: 254 and 123 all out (Santhush Gunathileka 32, Dilum Sudeera 36, Tharindu Ratnayake 4/56, Manelka de Silva 5/37)

Sebastianites: 167 all out and 166 out (Vishal Silva 33, Vimud Sapnaka 52, Dilum Sudeera 5/61 Kavindu Pathiratne 2/24)
