What are your top tips for looking stylish when traveling?
Just because you are traveling, doesn't mean you have to look like you're traveling. My top tips for looking stylish when traveling is to keep it basic and simple, not a lot of fuss.
* Comfortable pants, I normally like to wear skinny jeans because I'll wear flats or boots with them depending on the weather.
* A basic tee with a blazer and scarf works nicely too.
* I will normally choose to wear darker colors (mainly black) when I travel.
* Keeping the jewelry to a minimum in order to get through security with ease is another thing I felt helpful. And yes, you can look stylish without all the bling.
Who inspires you?
All of you inspires me! All of the wonderful independent fashion bloggers out there in this big old world. I love all of you and love reading your blogs, viewing your outfits and gathering my own ideas from them. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this community. I enjoy finding others to follow and watching everyone's growth in the world of lifestyle blogging. So basically, other independent fashion bloggers inspire me the most.
Do you have a signature piece or style?
When I am not working and just chillin' out with friends, I like to wear skinny jeans, a graphic tee paired with a nicely fitted casual blazer. It's easy and comfortable. In cooler weather I add a scarf. You can also be versatile with your footwear with this look. I do love a giant platform.
What's your secret to making yourself stand out?
Well, it is nothing I have done on purpose, this sort of thing has simply evolved I guess. I have a super short edgy hair cut. I think I have a borderline androgenize-look going on too. I usually like to wear high-heels or high platforms to make myself tall and that helps make me stand out, or at least I think so. Dark hair, red lipstick doesn't hurt either.
What's the worst current trend?
I may get some flack for this but I am not in love with what I see women wearing a lot of these days. A beautiful dressy dress with flat flip flop sandals. A casual dress? Fine. But I see women wearing nice high-end expensive dresses made with beautiful fabric, and they are walking around in these cheap looking flip flop sandals. It makes me cringe.
Another trend I am not a fan of are those oversized ginormous decorative necklaces that is all the rage. I am not a necklace person in general but when I see EVERYONE ELSE wearing something, I normally run the opposite direction.
How would you describe your personal style?
I would describe my personal style as edgy while still being girly. I love combining the masculine with the feminine. It is exciting and I never get bored with trying to create this look on a regular basis.
Who are your style icons?
I recently wrote about this on my blog. I'd have to say Katharine Hepburn for her rebellion, Gwen Stefani for her edge, and Angelina Jolie for her simplicity and elegance.
