Last week it was bikini trends, this week it’s all about the shoes, and next week I’ll be chatting about prints! There is a non exhaustive list of shoe trends out there this season, and here is my top 5 wearable trends from the runway and some little style ideas to wear them with ease out and about! Some of them are a little adventurous, but that’s what fashion is all about don’t you think?
Plastic Fantastic

PrevNextTheres something so cool and minimalist about this new see-through trend. The plastic heel is pretty damn cool, and I’m pretty much drooling over anything Alexander Wang at the moment. In the last style post I wore a pair of plastic Wang inspired shoes. Now talking from experience I would say from wearing a pair is that plastic can rub (I’ve never had blisters on my toes before, but now I have) so make sure when you buy them that they are comfortable and breathable and they aren’t already tight on the edges. Anything that is too closed could be like putting plastic bags around your feet, and that won’t smell like roses at the end of the evening.
Trainers
div" class="cycloneslider-slides cycle-slideshow" data-cycle-pause-on-hover="true" data-cycle-pager="#cycloneslider-trainers-2 .cycloneslider-pager">
PrevNextTrainers are the most wearable trend out there of course! You can be stylish and do some summer trekking all at the same time. As far as trekking is concerned, I would just trek to the beach, but it’s still the most practical trend out there, and great for your feet too. Bright block colours, silvers and whites are all trending, not to forget the Isabel Marant inspired heeled pair. They look great with shorts or mid calf trousers as a fashion statement, as for just being comfortable they are just that with everything.
Coloured Metallic

PrevNextColoured metallic, not to mention %7Bsandals%7D/br_colourgroup>%7Bsilver%7D&fh;_eds=%C3%9F">%7Bsandals%7D/br_colourgroup>%7Bsilver%7D&fh;_eds=%C3%9F">%7Bsandals%7D/br_colourgroup>%7Bsilver%7D&fh;_eds=%C3%9F">%7Bsandals%7D/br_colourgroup>%7Bsilver%7D&fh;_eds=%C3%9F" target="_blank" title="Silver sandals">silver sandals, or silver footwear in general, is without a shadow of a doubt a big summer trend. They break up an outfit so well! I loved how Burberry Prorsum matched their metallic trench coats with metallic shoes this season. Pink seems to be the metallic dominant of the moment. Metallic footwear looks great as a simple touch to a black and white outfit (as seen on the runway with Cholé) or with pastels à la Viktor & Rolf.
I’m a big fan of those cute silver shoes from Clarks UK, they look so fashionably comfortable. Clarks can be so mummsy sometimes but when they get it right it’s foot heaven!
Straps
div" class="cycloneslider-slides cycle-slideshow" data-cycle-pause-on-hover="true" data-cycle-pager="#cycloneslider-straps-4 .cycloneslider-pager">
PrevNextI feel like gladiator shoes have been if fashion for years now. Since like 310 BC, but it’s no wonder because they still look good even after 2323 years! They let the air in, they are flattering and they go with so much summer stuff! There has been some great minimalist ideas out on the runway and some gorgeous almost webbed designs too (word up Iveline, she suggested the webbing, I went for straps as a title) any strap shoe looks great with a maxi.
Whites
div" class="cycloneslider-slides cycle-slideshow" data-cycle-pause-on-hover="true" data-cycle-pager="#cycloneslider-whites-5 .cycloneslider-pager">
PrevNextA white pair of stilettos, I discovered, go with everything and add instant class. White shoes are a summer essential. They are the perfect color (neutral) and make a change from black. I hear you telling me that it’s an impractical color. Well not if you have some baby wipes at hand, (first hand experience!) But if they are suede then they are ridiculously impractical. Maybe they aren’t the best for going clubbing in but they are perfect for evenings out in nice bars and restaurants.
Platforms
Platforms are still all over the runway, but the dominant was definitely the single sole, It is a shame for those of us that likes the height but not the discomfort of a tall shoe. But I do believe that right now, single soles are classy and look classy on every womans feet. Platforms can be on the limits of stripper shoes sometimes.
Shoe shopping on the internet
My mom keeps telling me that buying shoes on the internet is a silly thing to do. True that, you have to try a pair of shoes before you buy. Two things you should think about is the website’s return policy and the heel height, because unlike Shakira’s hips, a photo can lie, especially if it’s been through Photoshop. As for getting some lovelies ready for spring Office, ASOS, Aldo and Brantano shoe shops all have some marvelous sales on. So have a ganders!
Take care!
