STYLE: Look #11 – The Frayed

By Jsleigh14 @jsleigh14

“Rugged and worn” fashion is more appreciated now than ever before. In fact, I think I’ve seen more torn jeans than anything else this summer. In this look, I’m embracing the vintage appeal of pieces that are aged and frayed. It’s always nice when old things can be reused in a new way.

The shorts I’m wearing were originally full length jeans that had ripped beyond repair along the hemline. Since I still liked the aged wash of this denim, I decided to keep them by turning them into shorts. Rather than getting them properly hemmed, I used a ruler and a pair of fabric scissors to do the shortening myself. By doing this, my new jean shorts now have a nice natural fraying that adheres to recent trends.

And…an old pair of frayed chucks to go with them. These shoes truly last forever.
