Stuff You Probably Didn’t Want to Know About Us (ABC Award)

abc-award

So Overlord-G nominated us for an ABC Award. First, thanks for the nomination OG! Second, sorry it took forever to get this up! Now third, time to explain what the ABC Award is! It’s basically us sharing just about whatever we want — a personality trait, a game, food, whatever — that fits the letter of the alphabet. It just has to begin with the 26 letters of the alphabet. Not too hard I think!

A few more rules:

1. Download the award logo and add it to your acceptance post.

2. Nominate a few fellow bloggers and share the award.

3. Since the award is ABC, take each letter of the alphabet and use it to tell something about yourself.

So ok, 1 is already accomplished. Next are the nominations:

Nabe!!
Through The Looking Glass
Stereo Otaku
Manga Therapy
Damage Control Blog
Moar Powah!
Beneath the Tangles
Vintage Coats
We Are Geeking Out

Now, finally, the responses! I decided it’d be cool if I had some members of the team contribute to this award (since it also means I don’t have to do every letter mwhahaha ahem). So that’s what we did. Hope you enjoy.

A: Anime. Because I’m clutch, I take the easy way out and go with this. All I’ll say is that despite getting into anime as a kid and watching it throughout my high school years, I didn’t exactly get into anime seriously until I started blogging. [Justin]

B: Beard. I take great pride in my super-ultra-manly beard. [Ben]

C: is for Chi from Chobits! While I don’t think it’s a good example of CLAMP’s best work (and it hasn’t aged that well either), it was still my first “real” manga series in the sense that I was aware that I was reading something from Japan. It’ll always have a place in my heart for that. [Muse]

D: Digital. I’ve come to depend on technology lately. I’m usually better with stuff than with people, probably not too surprising given my field of occupation (IT). [sjw]

E: Endless World – My favorite yaoi. It’s really dark and not all that happy, but it’s one of the few where, while I was reading it, I felt a genuine sort of awe the entire time. [Emily]

F: is for Figurines. Nendoroids, Figmas, Figurarts, scales, model kits, you name it! They all have their charms. [Muse]

G: Gamer. I don’t like the term “gamer” since it only tells one side of the story, but I’ll use it anyway. I love video games with a passion, and see them as an art form. I usually play story-heavy games, open-world sandbox games, and lots of indie games. Even though I usually stick more towards retro games, I play modern games if they’re creative and fun (and not just repetitive shooter games). [Ben]

H: Huge anime watching list. Just take a look at my MAL and you’ll understand. [Kuuki]

I: Ichiro Komaba from Gin no Saji (one of the ongoing manga I read), otherwise known as the baseball player. He’s my favorite character of the series and I admire his bluntness. [Naru]

J: Jordan — as in, Michael Jordan. Clearly the perfect opportunity to sneak in that I’m a NBA fan (specifically a Brooklyn Nets fan), but, like most people growing up, MJ was one of my favorite players to watch. Too bad he’s not doing so hot as an owner… [Justin]

K: Koko-chan! (You totally thought I’d use my name there didn’t you? :p). Koko-chan is an arms dealer, and the main character of Jormungand. [Kuuki]

L: Lamenting. I tend to reminiscence (and sometimes over-think or over-analyze) about things that have come to pass. I don’t consider myself a negative person, but the feeling of irreversibly losing something is one of the most powerful feelings I’ve came to know. [sjw]

M: Music. Music is easily my biggest passion. If it were up to only having music or anime, I’d probably be on music’s side (sorry). [Ben]

N: Naruto. Though I have given up on the manga and anime long ago, I still am quite attached to it and its characters. I wouldn’t mind watching a few old episodes from time to time. [Naru]

O: One Piece – The only one of the Big 3 that I’ve been able to really get into (Sorry Naruto and Bleach). [Emily]

P: Party! Are you ready guys? Let’s party! [Kuuki]

Q: is for Quiet. As an anime fan, I spend a lot of time sitting silently in front of screens. Sometimes I think my family is checking to make sure I haven’t lost the ability to speak…[Muse]

R: Rozen Maiden. This was a series I had heard about but never checked out, but once the 2013 version arrived, and that it would be closer to the manga than the previous two anime series, I guess that meant I had to check it out. It was one of my favorite shows of the summer. No, it wasn’t super great, and the ending episodes were blah, but I became incredibly immersed with the world of the dolls, and I’m looking forward to reading the manga series when I get some time. [Justin]

S: Sharing. I usually recommend good anime (or other forms of entertainment) to my friends and conversely, get recommendations from them; some of them I watch, while others I pass over. [sjw]

T: Toyonaga Toshiyuki. This guy is a good seiyuu, he can dance, act, sing and he’s also wearing glasses. The perfect man! [Kuuki]

U: Uncertain. I’m never too sure of my choices, however little or big they may be. [Naru]

V: Valentine – My chosen Catholic middle name… Let’s just say we all make mistakes. [Emily]

W: Walking Dead. Not the show, mind you. I’m talking about the games and (to a lesser extent) the comics. I’ve never cried as many manly tears as I have while playing TellTale’s excellent adaptation of the story. [Ben]

X: is for Xerxes Break, because X is impossible, so have a Pandora Hearts character. I need to catch up on that manga…[Muse]

Y: Yorozuya. I think this has something to do with my favorite anime and manga franchise called Gintama. Just a feeling I get. [Justin]

Z: (is there even a word starting with letter Z???) Zeal. I like to stick to things until they come to an end; that is, I rarely drop a series because I don’t like it. I may not watch them weekly, but I always try to complete them sooner or later… and then I can say, “what a waste of my time that was!”. [sjw]
