Twenty one students who were arrested on the charge of assaulting the teacher in charge of discipline of a leading school in Puttalam were ordered to be released under strict bail conditions by the Puttalam Magistrate.
They were released with personal surety of Rs.500,000 each.The Magistrate also ordered them to be present at Puttalam police every Sunday after they conclude the Ordinary Level examination.The Magistrate informed that they would be remanded until the case regarding the alleged assault on the teacher is over, if the suspects are involved in intimidating the aggrieved party. The case was fixed for June 22.
