This is what I wore for my birthday lunch date with my mama (and these are the flowers my husband brought me). I’ve been wanting to mix these three items for quite a while, but an outfit like this deserves an actual place gone to (unlike most days, where I get dressed for… uh… Asa… and my husband when he gets home…) and not just getting dressed for the sake of blogging. Which, yes, sometimes I do that. Posting a blog post is motivation for getting dressed some days.
One of my goals for this year is to get dressed daily even if I am not going anywhere. Honestly, being a stay-at-home mom has its perks, such as the fact that it is totally acceptable to wear yoga pants, a sports bra, and a tank top all day every day for a week… but that means I have a wardrobe that doesn’t get used. And I’ve always been really determined not to fall into the habit of most moms (which I SO get) which is to wear jeans and a tee or yoga pants and a tank every day of the week
Obviously practicality plays into it, and I can’t wear white often (so this skirt is out for daily wear), but there are cute ways to be dressed and still be able to chase a kid around. So, I’m on a mission to find those ways, and to not be so afraid to get messes on my clothes. Clothes are washable. Most stains come out.
(And, I’m not saying moms shouldn’t wear comfy clothes — that is a must for me! I’m just saying… I fall into a rut of yoga pants or maternity pants + my coziest (most stained) tee, and I don’t want to stay in that rut.)
And, you know, it’s not a bad thing to be pretty for my husband when he gets home, either. With this pregnancy, I’ve been less inclined to look pretty for him because I haven’t been in a romantic mood… ever… due to hormones, but I’m finally over that (thank goodness) and I know he appreciates it when I’m actually wearing clothes and not pajamas.
Speaking of hormones, I know other women have experienced that hormonal change of just not wanting to be touched during pregnancy, and I would like to address just how annoying that is. To me, to feel that way, I mean. I am normally a really affectionate person, but any type of cuddling just made me grumpy. And then I felt mean, and then I would get more annoyed with myself, and less open to cuddles, and it was just a bad circle of hormones and emotions.

Pregnancies can bring about such strange things. I’m still waiting for the weird cravings, but so far… nothing.
Although, I did discover that kombucha helps tremendously on those days when I suffer from queasiness! Apparently the good bacteria in kombucha counteracts the bad bacteria that causes morning sickness (as do the bacterias in other fermented foods, such as sauerkraut and pickles) and sometimes negates the queasiness entirely. Which, for me, it has! So if you’re in the throes of morning sickness, try some kombucha, or fermented pickles, or sauerkraut. All pregnancy safe, all potentially likely to kill off most of your sickness.
I hope you are all having a wonderful week so far! I’m working on keeping up with my birthday goals, which I will talk more about later, and editing photos for the first style swap post over at Shaped By Style.
Speaking of which, have you read all of the bloggers’ introductions yet? I am really loving getting to know all of these women more!
Happy Tuesday!
