Plot: After he’s blamed for the death of his friend in a racist street fight: Tez, a young drug dealer loses custody to his 2 year old son. Battling addiction and a world of crime he’ll need to navigate his way to redemption before it’s too late

Story: Streets of Colour starts when Tez (Romahn) Akachi (Lekwape) and Kyle (Giarola) look to spend time hanging out in their drug dealer circuit. However, Kyle’s brother Gazza (Maple) is a racist that doesn’t like anyone who isn’t white. When the two sides clash Akachi is murdered and Tez loses custody of his son.

In the aftermath of the incident, Tez’s girlfriend leaves him and refuses to let him see his son. This leads to Tez needing to figure out what to do with his life, as being a drug dealer isn’t going to help him get his son back.

Verdict on Streets of Colour

Streets of Colour is a drama following a young man trying to turn his life around. This is after one of his friends dies in a racist attack and the locals blame him. He wants to turn his life around to get a chance to be around his son once again.

This is a movie that looks to follow the redemption arc a drug dealer tries to go through after the death of his friend. However, the journey isn’t as easy as it should be. This movie has a lot of American History X vibes about it. Even if the character on a redemption arc isn’t a racist, in fact, he is the victim. It feels like it has us in the same drug underworld. This gives us an insight to the many different lives affected by the death, from a few different angles. Rahel Romahn is wonderful in the leading role showing the changes his character goes through.

Final Thoughts – Streets of Colour is a moving redemption story.
