We were blown away by Strange Bones’ live performance when they headlined last year’s Summer Westival at the West End Centre in Aldershot and have been eagerly awaiting new material from the Blackpool four-piece. Now, the band have shared new single ‘Vicious.’ ahead of the release of the ‘Blitz Pt 1’ EP on 5 July.
A sonic assault on all of your senses, ‘Vicious.’ opens with disjointed electronic beats and distorted vocals (Bobby Bentham exclaiming: ‘I’m a fucking Triceratops’) before melding frantic punk-rock riffs with yelled vocals about ‘being on the outside looking in’ and being a passenger ‘on the train to the end of the Earth’ finally moving on to an industrial sound with the spirit of early Enter Shikari pulsing through.
As the band state, this song ‘reveals Strange Bones to the world as genre shape-shifters’ and also has a political edge as Bobby proudly boasts about being alive and how ‘I’ll eat a Nazi for breakfast’. You wouldn’t dare doubt him.
