East London's Stour Space are hosting the launch of Hidden In Plain
Sight, the first solo exhibition by East London-based illustrator Lucy Dalzell.
As part of Lucy Dalzell’s ongoing exploration of
London’s evolving landscape, Hidden In Plain Sight brings together
artworks that observe, document and playfully recreate the places and
spaces we interact with, but rarely acknowledge.
Hackney Wick
served as the catalyst for this ongoing body of work. Whilst living and
working in the area in the years leading up to the Olympics, Dalzell
started to visually document the hidden, often unnoticed pockets of the
Wick, as the area rapidly evolved. This soon expanded into investigating
areas going through similar transformations across London.
Hidden
In Plain Sight features a responsive soundscape by artist Nuno Veiga.
During the lead up to this exhibition, Veiga and Dalzell have
collaborated on collecting sound pieces from the areas featured in the
artworks, which have then been crafted by Veiga to create an immersive
soundscape as part of the exhibition.
