Stop Worrying…

By Caryschmidt

As I was struggling to surrender to God’s will, my biggest road block was worry. I worried over all the unknowns. I carried on a million mental arguments with God over why His call was unreasonable, risky, and impossible. There were a thousand roadblocks seemingly standing between me and His plan.

In one God-ordained moment, my brother Matt called me—at precisely the moment I was arguing with God over one particular roadblock. His call interrupted my discussion with God. I answered and he spoke…

“Cary…” His tone was forceful and flat, “I just called because God put it on my heart to tell you one thing.”

“What’s that?” I said.

To which he replied, even stronger, “STOP WORRYING ABOUT…!” (He named the exact thing I was wrestling with!)

All I could do was laugh. God timing. My brother’s “in-my-face” courage. It stopped me cold. Busted. If I could have seen God sitting next to me in the car, I’m sure He was smiling with pleasure. He has His ways of speaking loudly to us, even when we don’t want to hear.

And so, I challenge you today to STOP WORRYING… I’m not sure where this post finds you. What you’re facing. How your dealing with it. What God’s calling you to do. Or how you are facing the impossible, and perhaps arguing with your Creator over it. But here are a few things we should all stop worrying about:

Stop worrying about failing. Any success you’ve had is God. If you’re obeying Him, He will do the rest.

Stop worrying about finances. Any provision you’ve had was from Him. If you’re obeying Him, He’s got your back.

Stop worrying about opinions. The only one that matters is God’s. If you’re obeying Him, no one else’s opinion is relevant.

Stop worry about outcomes. God goes before you. If you’re obeying Him, He will make the crooked places straight.

Stop worrying about “what ifs”. God doesn’t author contingency plans. If you’re obeying Him, you don’t need a “plan B.”

Stop worrying about others decisions. God didn’t give you control of others. If you’re obeying Him, keep taking heed to yourself.

Stop worrying about risk. God calls you to radical faith. If you’re obeying Him, it will appear risky, but that’s just a mirage.

Stop worrying about stuff. God gave you what you have. If you’re obeying Him and He wants it back, let it go.

Stop worrying about ability. God calls you, and He will do it. If you’re obeying Him, He is bound to make you able.

Stop worrying about plans. God sometimes places you in rapidly changing dynamics. If you’re obeying Him, He will guide moment by moment.

There’s really only one thing you need to focus on—OBEYING GOD.

Just do it. He’s good for His Word! And you can’t afford to keep arguing with Him!

“Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?” Matthew 6:30
