Fun. Fierce. Fabulous.
The “three Fs” Micah Kiyo used to describe herself in a recent interview with Candor could easily be applied to her single, “Superhero Boots”, now available on iTunes.
When asked about the meaning of the song, MK replied, “It’s about putting on your favorite pair of boots and feeling powerful.” A driving dubstep infused song reminiscent of Beyonce’s “Run the World (Girls)”, “Superhero Boots” is undeniably catchy. And the song only gets better with visuals added.
A while back, MK took to the streets of Atlanta to promote the single with ‘pop up shows‘ with her dancers, the Aces. The first of the pop up shows took place at the Five Points MARTA station.
“I was really nervous,” MK admitted. Because of the random nature of the pop up shows, she was unable to disclose if any were coming up, but did say that she was interested in doing more.
When asked about the Aces, MK replied that she has known the Aces for 3 years, and that they’ve been inseparable since.
“Our rehearsals are pretty laid back, but we have to be serious,” she said.
On her biggest obstacle, Micah Kiyo revealed that her break from music two years ago was one of her biggest struggles. “Coming back was an obstacle,” she admitted, and praised her team, friends, and family for being there for emotional support.
On the best advice she’s ever been given? “Having success is simple, but it doesn’t mean that it’s gonna be easy.”
For up and coming artists, Micah Kiyo advised them to “be true to who you are. Just keep going.”
As for Micah Kiyo, we can only expect bigger and better things from her.
If you’re in the Atlanta area, keep an eye out. You never know where she’ll show up.
