The True Blood Season 6 premiere focused a lot on what exactly and who exactly this new Bill Compton is. Is he Lillith? Is he the same old Bill but with new powers? Its hard to say. What you may not have known is that Stephen Moyer, who plays Bill Compton, also directed the episode in addition to acting in it. This isn’t the first time Moyer has directed an episode of the show and he spoke to The Hollywood Reporter before the premiere about directing his wife (Anna Paquin), the future for Bill and Sookie and the changes in Bill.
When asked if it is difficult to direct his wife, who plays Sookie Stackhouse, Moyer replies that it is not at all hard because they are both professionals and have been in the field for a very long time. He also reveals that Anna has a photographic memory saying:
She is so clear, and the way that Anna learns lines, for example, is not the way I learn lines. She has a photographic memory. So she can read that piece of paper in your hand, and she’ll be able to quote it back in two full reads of it.
He then goes on to talk about the changes in Bill and says that he has changed so much. He reflects on the Bill of Season 1 and all the ways he has grown and developed in the various seasons. Since this season is about identity many of the core characters will be going through some difficult stuff to get to the bottom of who they are. Moyer does reveal that we will find out what Bill has become and what it means not only just to him.
Finally, Moyer is asked when Sookie and Bill will be getting back together and he replies:
I don’t know if Bill and Sookie are ever getting back together. I don’t know whether that’s even possible at this stage. I don’t know if it even is what the fans want. I think she has so many suitors around her — it could go all sorts of ways.
