Prior to being cast in the role of Bill Compton on True Blood, the part that made him infamous, Moyer had given up on breaking in to television here in the US according to a UK Press Association report. In fact he had given up hope on it almost completely:

“The interesting thing about it, honestly, is that I wasn’t looking for it any more. I had decided I wasn’t going to come to America that year for pilot season. And of course as soon as you say no, the bosses are much more interested than they usually are.”

Now the actor splits his time between LA and the UK and he reports that he’s been able to adjust to lifestyle changes in each country seemlessly.

“When I’m here I tend to drink coffee all day. And when I’m in England, I don’t even think of drinking coffee, I only drink tea. And if I’m making toast here I have peanut butter and jam, and I would never dream of doing that in the UK, I’d have Marmite. I skateboard everywhere here, and I just wouldn’t do that in London.”

But don’t expect the native English actor to become a complete California boy any time soon. He still uses a lot of English terms and sayings that confuse his friends sometimes.

“I’ll say, ‘I’m popping out for a cheeky fag’ and they’ll say, ‘Why is it cheeky?’ Or if I say, ‘You saucy moo’ it’s, ‘What is saucy?”

One thing is for certain, we’re all glad Stephen decided to try the United States  one last time. True Blood wouldn’t be the same without him!

True Blood season 4 began airing in the United Kingdom last night on FX.  Season 5 will begin airing on HBO in the United States and Canada this summer!
