Stephen Moyer, best known as Vampire King of Louisiana Bill Compton in HBO’s “True Blood” series, has been cast to play prosecuter John Fogelman in Devil’s Knot. It is based on the book, Devil’s Knot: The True Story Of The West Memphis Three, by Mara Leveritt.
The book describes the true story of the three teenagers, dubbed “The West Memphis Three” by the media, who were tried in the triple homicide of three young boys. Despite the lack of evidence, Jason Baldwin, Damien Echols, and Jessie Misskelley were convicted and incarcerated until 2011, when they were released after months of negotiation on a plea deal based on new evidence.
Moyer is joined by an impressive cast including Colin Firth, Reese Witherspoon, Alessandra Nivola and more. The filming will begin immediately and scheduled around his True Blood shooting schedule. The movie will be directed by critically acclaimed Canadian director Atom Egyogan, who has been nominated for two Academy Awards.
