According to trademark attorney Josh Gerben, famous basketball player Stephen Curry has trademarked the term “CURRYVERSE.”

Earlier this month, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office submitted a trademark application for a variety of Web3-related services. It indicates that Curry intends to sell apparel, footwear, belts, headgear, sports bags, watches, artwork, and other virtual products in the metaverse.

In addition to downloadable and recorded commodities authenticated by non-fungible tokens, the trademark application encompasses both . In fact, Curry’s group plans to provide software platforms for the creation, promotion, sale, and exchange of NFTs.

In addition, Curry intends to make personal metaverse appearances as a professional basketball player. Using blockchain technology, the Golden State Warriors star also intends to give entertainment and education.

Given his reputation as one of the NBA’s most crypto-friendly superstars, Curry’s recent patent application is not unexpected. In May of 2018, the basketball player released the first celebrity-branded CryptoKitty, capitalizing on the NFT bandwagon much earlier than other celebrities. One of the best players in NBA history purchased an NFT from the Bored Ape Yacht Club collection for $180,000 in August 2021.

Major cryptocurrency FTX debuted a promo featuring Curry in March. In addition to the NBA superstar, other other celebrities, such as Miley Cyrus and Christina Aguilera, filed similar filings.
