Love is Always a Choice
This story is absolutely beautiful. I visited with a gentleman and his wife, both from the Midwest and apparently high school sweethearts. The wife would often talk about her husband’s “antics” in high school, and she would get a funny grin on her face as she reminisced. As it happened though, each of them married other partners after high school and their lives went separate ways for years. It was only by coincidence, that they (at the time both single) rekindled their love and friendship at a high school reunion. But, when she told that story, he would smile, and it was just such a look of love between them. Even as they dealt with their own health problems, it was so touching to seem them together after all these years, so in love. The fact that they rekindled their love and re-married was very touching to me.
It reminded me that deep love is always available to us.
It is the fabric of who we are, a deep love of others, the love of family that can cause you to give something up so that someone else can succeed. I think at some point they could have walked away again…but they didn’t. It is a lesson to learn that love is always a choice for us.
