One time while touring wineries with my family in the Napa Valley, we stopped and grabbed some delicious treats for an impromptu picnic. With a beautiful baguette ready to be eaten, we quickly realized that we had nothing to cut it with - that is, until my Uncle pulled his picnic bag out of the trunk of his car. Always ready for a picnic, he had a swiss-army bread knife, mini salt and pepper shakers, bamboo cutlery and plates, and of course, a corkscrew.
When the beau and I decided to have an impromptu picnic recently, we were sure to grab the picnic bag that my Uncle had generously gifted to us. Here are it's contents:
1. A small wood cutting board is perfect for cutting into baguettes and serving cheese. | 2. Picnic wine glasses make enjoying vino a little classier. | 3. Mini salt and pepper shakers provide simple seasoning. | 4. Mini cheese plane for the tastiest of cheese portions.| 5. A waiters corkscrew is a picnic bag essential unless you're going with screw cap bottles. | 6. A resusable set of bamboo plates and cutlery make an enivronmentally friendly choice. | 7. A fold-up knife is perfect for slicing up spicy salami. | 8. Cut into your baguette in a civilized manner with a fold-up knife with serrated edge.
A few of my favorite picnic bags. (Dean & Deluca)
An engraved picnic knife makes for a very special gift. Spot the 'T'.
It's nice to stop and enjoy the view with wine and cheese in hand.
Of course, you can buy your own fully loaded picnic basket, but it's much more fun to collect the contents of your bag on your own. This way, they will carry with them special memories of where you picked them up.
Salut!
