Stellaris Save Game Location – Save File
These are the paths to find the save game or save file on Windows, Mac and Linux, both via Steam and via Paradox Launcher
Windows
Two possible paths depending on whether you play through Steam or Paradox Launcher
Steam Save Game Location: %UserProfile%\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Stellaris\save games
Paradox Save Game Location: %UserProfile%\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Stellaris Plaza\save games
If you don’t know how to find a folder with the path, do the following:
- Press Windows + R
- Copy “%UserProfile%\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Stellaris\save games” (Steam) or “%UserProfile%\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Stellaris Plaza\save games” (Paradox Launcher)
- Paste it in the run window
- Press OK
Mac
Two possible paths depending on whether you play through Steam or Paradox Launcher
Steam Save Game Location: ~/Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/save games
Paradox Save Game Location: ~/Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris Plaza/save games
If you don’t know how to find a folder with the path, do the following:
- Open the finder window
- Press Command + Shift + G
- Copy “~/Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/save games” (Steam) or “~/Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris Plaza/save games” (Paradox Launcher)
- Paste it in the text field
- Finally press OK
Linux
Two possible paths depending on whether you play through Steam or Paradox Launcher
Steam Save Game Location: ~/.steam/steam/userdata/YOUR STEAM3 ID/281990/remote/save games
Paradox Save Game Location: ~/.local/share/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris Plaza/save games

This is the path for the screenshots taken by pressing F11:
Windows Screenshot Folder Location: %UserProfile%\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Stellaris\screenshots
Mac Screenshot Folder Location: ~/Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/screenshots

If you take screenshots by pressing F12, they will be saved in the Steam Screenshots folder, to find it:
- Launch Steam
- Click View (top left menu)
- Click Screenshots
- Find the game of your choice (for example Stellaris)
- Finally click Show on Disk

The mods folder also changes location depending on your team and if you play on steam or paradox launcher:
- Windows Steam Mods folder: %UserProfile%\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Stellaris\mod
- Windows Paradox Mods folder: %UserProfile%\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Stellaris Plaza\mod
- Mac Steam Mods folder: ~/Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/mod
- Mac Paradox Mods folder: ~/Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris Plaza/mod
