Stella Maris by Cormac McCarthy

By Pamelascott

GOD. TRUTH. EXISTENCE.

Stella Maris is the story of a mathematician, twenty years old, admitted to the hospital with forty thousand dollars in a plastic bag and one request: She does not want to talk about her brother.

I enjoyed this short book a lot. It's a follow up to The Passenger which I read recently. I'd recommend reading this as well to fully enjoy Stella Maris (which isn't the name of a character). It took a couple of chapters for me to get into the flow of the book as there are no dialogue indicators, so I didn't always know whether the patient or doctor was talking. I liked the way the book references The Passenger at time as the patient reveals their disturbing story.
