Ah, the last weekend of the Easter holidays... for every teacher/student, it is a time of great woe. To take my mind off the pending doom of going back to work (and the huge pile of marking that will amass on my desk by end of Tuesday), I made sure I kept myself busy and filled the Bank Holiday weekend with fun things. Luckily, I had two birthdays to celebrate - first up my good pal Mel's, with our now traditional annual BBQ. Not exactly warm (unlike last year where I remember getting sunburnt and wearing far fewer clothes!) but lovely to catch up with all the girls and boyfriends. As you can see, Mel and her family set up a pretty impressive outdoor play pad with blankets, lanterns and treats galore. Props to Kat for the marshmallow gorgeousness!
And secondly, my lovely nephew William's second birthday! Thomas the Tank Engine themed (naturally), with all the family and a tea party fit for a king. He fell down the stairs earlier in the day so was feeling a little delicate, but loved playing with his new skittles and xylophone! Such a cutie. I attempted to make a three-story rainbow cake, but the colours didn't come out quite as planned... damn you Pinterest and your false promises! Sigh. Nonetheless, my bitesize carrot cakes went down a storm - recipe to follow soon, of course. Wish me luck for tomorrow!
