Hello everyone, I hope all is well with you. I’m back after a week of working and writing. I’m at the final scene in my story, and I’m excited. I feel good about this version. But enough about that. Today, I want to talk about the importance of staying active as you age.

Staying active reduces the risk of obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and cancer. These are major diseases, and the risks for each disease becomes more prevalent as we get older. Sorry to say.

However, there is a way to fight these diseases, and that is to exercise. That’s right, something as simple as walking every day will help keep these diseases at bay. It’s unfortunate as we age, our metabolism slows down, making it harder to burn excess calories. The result is weight gain. Being overweight leads to, you guessed right, heart disease, diabetes, obesity, and cancer. So, it’s imperative that we keep active. Did you know that people who live to be one hundred years old continue to stay active into their later years, and even up to the day they die?

Walking is a great way to stay active. I run because heart disease runs in my family, and I want to keep my heart healthy. It’s a grind sometimes, but I’m always glad when I’m done. That runner’s high. It really does exist. Exercise is not only good for you physically, but mentally as well.

My attitude is so much better after I exercise. My problems don’t seem as big. I know you probably already know this, but sometimes there’s a big leap between knowing something and putting it into action.

I know some people can’t get around like they used to. Arthritis and joint issues seem to crop up as we get older. But there are still things we can do to stay active like pickle ball, walking, stationary biking, and swimming to name a few.

I’m planning on staying active so I can live a long life. How about you? Are you staying active? What do you do to keep the old machine running smoothly? Leave a comment! I’d love to hear from you!
