Stationeers Steel guide – the recipe, fuel for the furnace, farming the ingredients, crafting steel and uses as an ingredient
Stationeers Steel – Recipe
You can create x1 Steel Ignot in a Furnace using x3 Iron Ore and also x1 Coal, so the recipe is:
x4 Steel Ignot = x3 Iron Ore + x1 Coal
(if you want for example 200 Steel, you will need 150 Iron ore and also 50 Coal)
Other recipe requirements:
- Presure: Min = 1Mpa | Max = 100 Mpa
- Temperature (K): Min = 900K | Max = 100kK
- Temperature (ºC): Min = 627ºC | Max = 99727ºC
Stationeers Steel – How to Get in Early Game
Fuel for the Furnace
Before you try to melt any metal in the furnace you need fuel for the furnace
Ice (Oxite) and Ice (Volatiles) can be manually input directly in the furnace in order to create crude gas mixtures necessary for smelting this ingot. But use the exact ratio: x1 Ice (Oxite) to x2 Ice (Volatiles). To farm botht:
- Ice (Oxite): mined throughout the surface and underground of a planet or an asteroid using a Mining Drill or Pickaxe (Tip: Equip the mining belt to collect the ore automatically without meltin)
- Ice (Volatiles): mined throughout the surface and underground of a planet or an asteroid using a Mining Drill or Pickaxe (Tip: Equip the mining belt to collect the ore automatically without meltin)
So take your 2 volatiles, put them in the door, then hit the red button a couple of times and you’ll see the top door open again. Put in the Oxcite, and hit the button a few times again
Farming the ingredients
Remember: x4 Steel Ignot = x3 Iron Ore + x1 Coal, so you need to farm
- Iron Ore: throughout the surface and underground of a planet or an asteroid using a Mining Drill
- Coal: throughout the surface of the moon, or asteroids using a Mining Drill
Crafting Steel
Put the ore in and the door will open back up when it’s done processing the item you put in there. If you hold your cursor over the window on the front, it will give you some nice info. Same with the gauge on the right. (You’ll need the gauge info later in the game to make the more exotic metals).
Once you have all the ore and coal in the furnace, and you’ve got your cursor over the window, you should see something along the lines of “Will produce XXXg of Steel. At that point, pull the lever on the left of the furnace and an ingot will plop out the bottom.
Stationeers Steel – Uses
Steel is an ingredient of a lot of machines and items recipes, so try to get Steel asap
