Breakfast time can sometimes feel rushed when you have to get ready for a school run and work, however Liv and I always take this time to chill together and chat about what our day will have in store.
Whil st I may start my days off with a very large mug of black coffee, I always ensure that Liv enjoys a balanced breakfast. Our routine is somewhat set in stone now, we are both creatures of habit with what we eat and drink, but still enjoy our time together before the rush of the day begins.
Recently we have been putting nutella's theory that a Happy Portion of family time at breakfast will set you up for a positive start to the day ahead and increase family bonding. So how can you turn the selection of breakfast suggestions below into something even tastier?
Just one heaped teaspoon of nutella (15g, 80kcal) alongside your chosen breakfast item is enough to put a smile on any face!
With the colder weather starting to settle in and illnesses already making their rounds, I am all for a hot breakfast to kick start the day. Toast, crumpets and the occasional potato cake (we are Northern!) are a great way to warm the cockles and keep you motivated until lunchtime. With Year 6 being such an important school year, I am conscious that Liv need s quality time together to have a good start to the day. Talking about her work and how she is feeling is also super important! As a single parent family, we have always been able to discuss anything and are fortunate to share a very strong bond.Which is how I knew Liv would choose toast as her preferred option to have with her topping of nutella! The strawberries were a given too!
The strawberries were a given too! Fruit is something I never deny Liv having and she has free reign on and she is able to snack on the selection I stock up weekly - just so long as she leaves some strawberries for me too!
Now, whilst our family breakfast starts like this - all smiles with a yummy and healthy breakfast (and large mug of coffee)...
Someone is clearly enjoying their#nutellaHappyPortion!
Breakfast for me as a youngster was mostly cereal based, whilst my mum would always be bustling in the kitchen, with Manchester based radio station Key 103 on in the background. Breakfasts these days are a much more informal affair, but always spent together, with Liv having a more varied choice on what she would like to eat. We love to enjoy a tasty portion of one heaped teaspoon of nutella on toast and crumpets, but also on top of porridge or fruit.
