The Plot: The conclusion to the spectacular Episodes 4 and 5 that features Leia dressed as a sex slave, cute furry little Ewoks, and the final battle between Vader and Luke.

Another film I’ve had the pleasure of watching a dozen times, return Of The Jedi mostly sticks the landing. it’s not that the franchise isn’t wrapped up as I’d hoped, it’s some of the chosen cheese factor moments that you question why they were included. Why did Jabba need to dress Leia in that ridiculous sex slave outfit? Just because dudes watch Star Wars? They’re different species. How would that even work? It’s just there for guys to get to see Fisher, so it’s kinda just gross fan service that doesn’t push the film forward.

And, we spend a really long time with the Ewoks. I know they’re cute, but they were obviously put there to be cute. Tactically, they offer very little. And finally, although Vader makes a choice, and Luke was right, ultimately seeing his ghost face at the end, next to Obi Wan and yoda is offensive, considering how many people he’s killed. Saving his son’s life, after cutting his hand off doesn’t return you to the force. One good deed can’t wipe out the thousands of bad ones.

Other than that, this film is a solid conclusion, but it just doesn’t match quite where Episodes 4 and 5 are, though i still enjoy it a lot.

The Blind Perspective: Very few new characters are introduced here except the Ewoks, and while they’re described well, I did notice that they were never actually called Ewoks in the description. An interesting choice. Not a major one.

Final Thoughts: A great Star Wars entry, but one that finally shows me a few tiny problems.

Final Grade: A-
