Early Career: Alyson got into movies as a child star with early films roles in ‘Impure Thoughts’ and ‘My Stepmother is an Alien’. It wasn’t long till we saw that Alyson had an appeal to the small screen with her first appearance in 1989 ‘Free Spirit’ before a string off appearance through the 90s.

Break Out Role: After a string of television performances Alyson got the supporting role of Willow in ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ in 1997 which put her firmly on the map.
Career: After the Buffy role got her noticed it was the teen comedy ‘American Pie’ that gave Alyson a way into films with ‘Boys and Girls’ ‘American Pie 2’ and ‘beyond the City Limits’. Sadly this didn’t do enough to really put her on the map because of the success of these film meant she was stuck with the teen comedy roles. It was the awful ‘Date Movie’ in 2006 where she tried again but the film never replicated what the Scary Movie films had done and was slammed. Luckily after Buffy finished it wasn’t long before Alyson found herself in another hugely successful television show ‘How I Met Your Mother’.
2010 Onwards: This decade started with the continuing success of How I Met Your Mother Alyson was able to continue to pick her work to go around her personal life. she did make a return as Michelle in ‘American Reunion’ and a small supporting part in ‘Love, Wedding, Marriage’, where she started alongside her husband Alexis Denisof.

My Favourite Role: This is a hard pick because she has done three roles I really like, but it would have to be Michelle from American Pie, or Willow from Buffy.
