Congratulations are in order for our SHERO Stacey Abrams!
The former candidate for Governor of Georgia and voting rights activists has been nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize according to Reuters.
Abrams has been nominated for her work to promote nonviolent change via the ballot box.
"Abrams' work follows in Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s footsteps in the fight for equality before the law and for civil rights," said Lars Haltbrekken, a Socialist Party member of Norway's parliament.
Martin Luther King Jr. won the Nobel prize in 1964 and remains among its most famous laureates.
Now that's how you kick off Black History Month!
