The Sri Lanka Women’s Football Team was knocked-out of the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Tournament after losing their second successive match 0-6 against Nepal at the Dashrath Stadium in Kathmandu yesterday.
Sri Lanka did not have any answers to the more dynamic unbeaten Nepal outfit, which went on to top the Group ‘B’ with a maximum of six points from their two outings and scoring a total of 10 goals.
Sri Lanka finished at the bottom of the points table as they conceded 11 goals to their opponents in this tournament from two games having earlier suffered a 0-5 defeat at the hands of Bhutan in the opening fixture.
Nepal took a commanding 4-0 lead at half time through goals from Rakshmi Kumari (10th minute), Saru Limbu (11th minute), Amrita Jaishi (17th minute) and Dipa Rai (45th minute). The hosts added two more goals to their tally after the turnaround with substitute player Amisha Karki scoring in the 76th and 90th minute respectively.
