Sri Lanka Emerging team led by Niupn Dhananjaya will meet Surrey in their third and final four-day cricket encounter from today (20) at Guildford. After the first two four-day matches against Kent and Hampshire Sri Lankan Emerging team is ready to take the challenge against the Surrey team which is the present County leading team.

Surrey the current County leader led by England all-rounder Rory Burns is most likely to play in the second-string team today, the same as the Hampshire team in their last match while the Sri Lanka Emerging team also might play with new players to replace some players to give match exposure.

According to England reports Sri Lanka Emerging team reached Woodbridge Road cricket ground in Guildford last Wednesday and they scheduled to conduct a training session yesterday evening before the match today. Lankan Emerging team batters dominated the first four-day game against the strong Kent team while they scored 658 for 9 wickets declared. Nishan Madushka the wicket-keeper batter entered the record books making an excellent knock of 269 in this opening game while Lasith Croosepulle (136) and Nuwanindu Fernando (99) made useful knocks for the Lankan Emerging team.

At the second four-day game against Hampshire, the Sri Lanka Emerging team managed to get only 281 and 107 for 3 wickets while Hampshire, packed with six first-class debutants, made 252 for 5 wickets declared. However, in today’s game, the Sri Lanka Emerging team most probably rested experienced players like Dilum Sudeera the leg spinner and paceman Udith Madushan, opener Lasith Croosepulle and give chance to the players like paceman Amshi de Silva, Avishka Perera, and Avishka Tharindu to give match exposure. Their intention is very clear as they plan to give all Emerging team players to get experience on this tour.

After this four-day match series, the Sri Lanka Emerging team will play three T-20 matches against Surrey (May 25), Somerset (May 27), and Gloucestershire (May 29). The Sri Lanka Emerging team will lead by Dhananjaya Lakshan during this T-20 series.
