Story: Sprinter starts as a young Jamaican teenager Akeem Sharp (Elliott) looks to follow in his brother’s footsteps. He runs the 400 Metres despite his coach seeing his future in the 200 Metres. Due to an accident, Akeem gets thrown into the race and wins with ease.
It doesn’t take long before his rise to stardom makes him the faster teenager at his age in the world. However, this isn’t going to make his future as bright as it could, as he gets drawn into criminal actions by his brother. This leaves Akeem in a position which would see him become a megastar or just another criminal.
Verdict on Sprinter
Sprinter is a sports drama following a young Jamaican teenager that gets thrown into stardom in sprinting. However, his life becomes complicated when he gets caught up in the middle of his parent’s difficult relationship and his brother’s criminal activities.
This is a drama that gets to show off the difficult lives that other countries can have with added pressure. It shows that even a big break could change how everything happens in their lives. Though, it does pose more as a warning of how things could spiral out of control. This does show us how sports can open up doors for people and they must learn to take chances.
Final Thoughts – Sprinter is a by-the-books sports drama.
