Story: Spree starts when aspiring social media star Kurt Kunkle (Keery) has created Kurt’s World. He hasn’t had much success, leading to him getting frustrated. Kurt drives in a rideshare company called ‘Spree’ where he records the passengers.

This day is different, as his antics see him take a darker tone to everything. With this offering him his much-wanted social media following, sending him down a dangerous road.

Verdict on Spree

Spree is an action comedy that uses the desperation people show to be social media stars. It follows a young man that has spent years trying to build up a following, only to find himself left without any following, which sees him go to drastic measures to make his dream come true.

This shows how easily the ideas for creative people will spiral out fo control. The more difficult moment to take from the film is how quickly everything takes off without anybody noticing things happening. It almost feels like a crime happening in front of the world, only nobody is watching.

Joe Keery is great as the young man who is out of control and by the end of the movie, we see how much has been taken out of him.

Final Thoughts Spree is a modern-day search for overnight success in a social media world.
