Rising art rockers SPQR have shared the video for ‘Josephine’ ahead of the release of new EP ‘Low Sun’ on 26 April (Modern Sky). The Liverpool trio have already played at BBC 6Music’s Fringe festival and can count bands like Everything Everything among their fans.
Opening with a danceable bass line akin to Mini Mansions, ‘Josephine’ twists and turns its way through all kinds of genres with crunchy math rock guitars, rasping vocals, cowbell and a jazz-laden climax thrown into the melting pot. The band sing dark lyrics: ‘And in a little time I’ll tell you if I’m ready because it’s weight on my bones, it is heavy’ that help them fit somewhere between Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and Foals.
