The competition for handheld tablet computers is really hotting up. Although we are all Apple fans here the iPad is no longer first choice for many people.
This is partly due to the high price of the iPad but also because of the innovations of competitors.
Once such competitor vying for your attention is the Samsung GALAXY Note 10.1. This tablet is said to offer the functionality and precision of pen and paper in an intuitive way, I suppose this means rather than the typical clumsy smudging fingers which we are currently use to!
Having looked at the specifications the tablet offers a 6.5mm ‘S Pen’, from a little research I found out this is a Samsung patented pen specifically for tablet devices to allow very accurate drawing/writing, a 10.1-inch large display which is slightly larger than the iPad 3 and a 1.4 GHz quad-core Exynos processor with 2GB RAM.
Here is a video from Samsung which illustrates the new tablets features:
According to Samsung the GALAXY Note 10.1 “is an ideal learning tool that allows students to take notes directly on an eTextbook whilst in lectures, or research the Web at the same time as writing an essay”
This sounds intriguing to us at Neon and we are looking forward to trying this out in-store somewhere soon, particularly the S Pen which we feel the iPad could really benefit from. From our research we noticed the GALAXY Note 10.1 is retailing online from £399 sim free.
