Spirit of the Andes: Sparkling Torrontes

By Hvwinegoddess
Spirit of the Andes: Sparkling TorrontesI am really getting into the bubbles lately.  Why not?  If we saved everything for a special occasion we would never drink it.  My new motto for 2014 is not to save anything for that special time.  Drink now and enjoy!
Enjoy is just what I did with the Spirit of the Andes Sparkling Torrontes.
Torrontes is a wonderful white wine grape grown in Argentina.  The grapes for this wine are sustainably farmed 3,000 feet above sea level.  The grapes are hand harvested, spend 12 months on the lees and the sparkling wine is made in the methode champenoise which the second fermentation takes place in the bottle. (like it's done in Champagne, France)
This was a beautiful sparkling with racy acidity and a real bright freshness that brings on excitement.  Fresh lemon and floral aromas fill the glass and even though I drank this in the winter, it had me thinking summer. Flavors of juicy pear and citrus with hints of pine nuts on the palate combined with the acidity that is balanced out make this dry sparkling a every day, every occasion wine.
