Spicy Bean Dogs

Spicy Bean Dogs
I put my hand up. I like hotdogs.  Yes, I know they are filled with things that I probably wouldn't eat otherwise.  I know . . .  but I don't really care.  Every once in a while I just have to treat myself to a hot dog.  I am a bit discerning however in that I only eat beef ones.  And those I buy at Costco.  They're delicious!
Spicy Bean Dogs
Every month I am the lucky recipient of a Degustabox.  Once a month, around the middle of the month, I am sent one of these lovely boxes which contain a delicious assortment of all things foodie.  I just love these boxes. Opening each one is tiny a bit like opening a Christmas gift. Always a surprise, and always filled with things that pique my interest and desire to try. Degustabox is a monthly foodie subscription service that sends out a range of 10 to 15 specially selected foodie products.
Spicy Bean Dogs
There's always a great mix of new products that I haven't tried before, as well as plenty of treats from more established brands. Quite often you will have the opportunity to try  new products before they arrive in the shops, so it can be a bit of a sneak peak! Each Degustabox costs only £12.99, delivery costs are included in the price, and there is no fixed contract involved - you can cancel at any time. I love getting these boxes! They are great value for money spent.
Spicy Bean Dogs
Each month I challenge myself to come up with a recipe using at least one article from the box.  I did struggle a bit this month, but then all of a sudden it came to me.  I would use the Heinz Creationz Mexican Beanz to do something tasty with, but more about that later.  First, here is what was in my October Box.
Spicy Bean Dogs

This was the product of the month.  The classic lemon flavor is a favourire for many and can be enjoyed hot or cold.  This refreshing beverage excites the tastebuds with a combination of sweet and citrus flavours.
Again, I don't drink tea or coffee, but I used to and I can see where this would be deliciously refreshing.  Especially cold served over plenty of cracked ice.

Ginger Beer by Supermalt is made using real ginger extract, and a delicate hint of lemongrass to give it a truly refreshing drink with an energising fiery kick. Best served ice cold.  Enjoy as a full flavor soft drink or as a mixer for your favorite cocktails.

HEINZ CREATIONZ MEXICAN BEANZ 1 X £1.75
The Heinz Creationz range comes in four delicious world flavours, Spanish, itailan and Mexican Beanz, as well as Lentil Curry. Perfect for taking to work for a quick lunch or as a tasty and speedy addition to your dinner.
I recieved the Mexican ones and was delighted as we are real lovers of Mexican anything and Heinz beans so how could these be anything but great!  They were quite delicious with some flavours of chorizo and bits of corn in them as well as a mix of beans. The zip open pack was easy to use.
Spicy Bean Dogs
As I said I struggled a bit to come up with a recipe this month, but eventually I settled on using the beanz.  We love the Heinz products and I knew that I could come up with something tasty for them.  Spicy Bean Dogs.
Spicy Bean Dogs
This recipe was actually a rif on our favorite Baked Hot Dog recipe, which uses a can of chili.  I thought the Heinz Beanz Creationz would work very well with them, and no surprise, it worked perfectly!
Spicy Bean Dogs
We loved the additional smokiness from the Chorizo sausage  . . .
Spicy Bean Dogs
These had just the right amount of spiciness, and had a wonderful hint of chipotle chilies.
Spicy Bean Dogs
They would also be great in Taco's and Quesadillas.
Spicy Bean Dogs
They would also make for a great Store Cupboard ingredient to keep on hand for when the mood hits.
Spicy Bean Dogs
Having enjoyed this flavour, I am now keen to try out the others!

prep time: 10 minscook time: 1 hourtotal time: 1 hours and 10 minsQuick, easy and delicious.  A real family pleaser! Children love them!

ingredients:

4 smoked all beef hot dogs4 hot dog buns
pickle relish
french mustard
mayonnaise (low fat works well)
1 pouch Heinz Creationz Mexican Beanz 4 ounces grated strong cheddar cheese (1 cup)4 TBS chopped spring onions to garnish

instructions:

Preheat the oven to 180*C/350*F/ gas mark 4.  Have ready a baking dish that is large enough to hold the hotdogs in the buns.
Open each bun.  Spread the inside with some pickle relish,
mustard and mayonnaise.  Place a hot dog into each.  Place each bun into
the baking dish.  Spoon the beanz over top of the hotdogs inside the
buns as much as possible.  Scatter the cheese over top.   Cover with aluminum foil, making sure that the foil does
not touch the top of the hotdogs, but sealing the edges in well.
Bake
for 45 to 50 minutes.  Uncover and bake for 5 to 10 minutes longer.
Remove from the oven and let stand 5 minutes before serving.  Use a
spatula to remove them to heated plates.  Sprinkle some chopped spring onions on top of each. These are knife and fork dogs
and oh soooooo scrummy!Created using The Recipes Generator
